Principles of Design
Unity
Unity is made from the use of the biggest flowers in the arrangement to the smallest buds. Also it is made for the container that holds the arrangement, to the accessories being used to jazz it up. It has to flow in order for it to look united as a whole.
Balance
Balance is what makes everything go together. It has to be shaped, color coordinated, have scale, and the rest of the elements. It is the composition of the design. It brings the warm colors towards you and cool colors away. The most important thing about balance is that the visual weight is the same throughout the entire completed design.
Harmony
Harmony is how the whole arrangement turned out in the end, this is according to the quantity of elements used to make it look and even feel good together.
Rhythm
Rhythm is found from the elements used. It has to sweep through the top all the way to the outer edges of the design. Whether it be a line that looks continuous or repetition that shows throughout. It’s what creates the full beauty of the arrangement.
